A Mediterranean nation, Italy, has announced its plan to phase out amalgam!

The Italian Ministry of Health published its National Action Plan to reduce the use of Dental Amalgam this Tuesday in which it “describes the actions necessary to achieve the gradual phasing out of the use of dental amalgam in dentistry, with the ultimate goal of achieving a complete elimination of the use, through non-coercive measures, by December 31, 2024 !“

This Plan describes the actions necessary to achieve the progressive discontinuation of use
(marketing and clinical use) of dental amalgam in the field of dentistry, with the ultimate aim of achieving a complete elimination (phase-out) of this use, by means of non coercive, by 31 December 2024. The realization of this objective will mainly be based on a widespread information action and training.
